How Do You Blend Two Different Photos On Gimp 2?

i just downloaded gimp 2 and i really want to know how to blend two complelety different pictures together, so that me and my friend who are in different picutres will be in the same picture. Please explain to me how do do it. I have no idea what are layers and stuff.

    There isn’t a magic “blend two photos” button that you can press. How you do this is totally dependent upon the nature of the two photos and what you are ultimately trying to do. Unless you take the time to learn about layers and blending and curves and masking, you may as well print out the two pictures, get a pair of scissors, cut out what you want and tape them together.
