It’s not about the tools, it’s about the design! Using a pencil and a sketchbook, one can make something better than an amateur user using Illustrator, that’s why Programs like illustrator and Corel are just shortcuts to the design for example you don’t need to draw a circle, you just create it…

well i used jasc paint shop pro, it’s free.
but seriously, it does not matter which soft do you use, what matters is your won artistic ability.
