How Can I Find Out How To Make Transparent Images In Gimp 2.2?
I just installed GIMP 2.2 for WIndows 98SE. I have used Paint Shop Pro for years so I am familiar with some of the tools and the concepts but I am finding it difficult to find out information to use GIMP that make any sense. Some must be from other versions. I am trying to find out how to make what are probably png files so I can have transparent images. I am looking for a way to make something like tubes in PSP for GIMP.

1. Pull down the File menu.
2. Pick “new.”
3. Under “File Type,” select “Transparent.”
4. Click “OK.”

ok, as of right now i’m working in gimp 2.2 for linux. to create a transparent image, click file, new, and in the dialog that pops up, click advanced. there should be a fill with option, click it and a menu will pop up, allowing you to start with a transparent layer. hope this helps.
